MLB This Week: 12 more day-games to enjoy

CovMLBUK2014We’ve got another dozen MLB early games to enjoy this working week.

The Dodgers are in early action twice. They start the week with the final game of their series against the Pirates for those preferring to avoid the Italy-Spain European Championship game as a lead up to England’s match against Iceland. They then finish a series against Milwaukee with a day-game on Thursday with Kenta Maeda currently scheduled to be the starting pitcher.

Elsewhere, David Price will be hoping to rebound from his poor performance against Texas on Friday night with a stronger outing against his former team, the Rays, on Wednesday. The Cubs take on the Reds in an early start on the same day, whilst the red-hot Cleveland Indians take on Toronto in a rare 18.00 Friday contest.

All times are in BST.

The Sox handed my Isotopes a 5-4 loss in a week where my offense completely vanished. In fact, they were so poor collectively I was probably lucky to only lose by one. Encarnacion hit three homers, scored seven times and knocked in nine, while Miggy and Seager each went deep twice. Fortunately my pitchers salvaged four categories as Teheran picked up a win, 15 strikeouts and helped take ERA and WHIP.

MLB This Week: A dozen day-games

CovMLBUK2014There are 12 scheduled day-games in MLB this working week.

Shelby Miller returns from the Disabled List for the Arizona Diamondbacks in their game on Monday against the Phillies. Miller has been a desperate disappointment so far in his first season with Arizona and the D-Backs can only hope that his time on the sidelines has not only got him healthy but given him a chance to clear his head and start to perform as they hoped he would.

Wednesday’s batch of seven early games are highlighted by a World Series re-match between the Royals and Mets – made even better by the scheduled starting turn of star turn Bartolo Colon – and a Cards-Cubs match-up that is currently in line to involve Michael Wacha and Jake Arrieta.

Thursday’s early games include a contest from Fenway Park between the Red Sox and the White Sox. James Shields has not impressed his new team’s fans since his trade for San Diego to Chicago. Taking on Boston’s batting lineup may not be exactly what he had in mind as an opportunity to turn things around.

MLB This Week: Kershaw, Strasburg and Arrieta

CovMLBUK2014England throwing away a victory in injury time on Saturday night got the 2016 European Championships underway in familiar fashion; however there are a good number of early MLB games this working week to either complement the football or to give you a good option to avoid it.

Three games stand out from the list, subject to usual caveat that starting pitcher assignments can change.

Clayton Kershaw is currrently on schedule to pitch in a day-game for the Dodgers against the D-Backs on Wednesday and just 25 minutes that Stephen Strasburg potentially will be taking the mound for the Nationals during a significant series against the Cubs.

The Cubs are then in early action again on Friday and that may well see Jake Arrieta starting against the Pirates.

MLB This Week: TOR-DET, HOU-TEX and more

CovMLBUK2014We have a smaller group of early MLB games to enjoy this working week after a bumper crop last week.

Wednesday is the main evening for your baseball fix at a convenient time in the UK. The Toronto-Detroit three-game series early this week should be a good one and we’ll get to see the final game on Wednesday with R.A. Dickey and Jordan Zimmermann currently in line to be the starting pitchers.

The Lone Star State series should also be well worth watching, especially thanks to Houston’s recent surge in form. The Astros and Rangers meet for a four-game series this week and Thursday’s finale is a day-game for us to enjoy.

All times are in BST.
