SWAT can celebrate after not only finishing top of the regular season standings, but also going unbeaten in the playoffs. This matchup went back and forth during the fortnight, but SWAT’s bats got the job done, taking all six categories. Pablo Sandoval, Werth, Pedroia, Cabrera and Choo were the key hitters, while Jair Jurrjens was the pick of the pitchers. The Stuff had a big power surge from A-Rod and some excellent pitching from Fuentes, Hoffman, Nunez and Arroyo.

My Isotopes finished the season on a high with a 7-4 win over the Angels. It was hardly a good matchup for average, as I took the category batting .249, but there was plenty of power from Ryan Howard and Michael Cuddyer. A lot of my pitchers were roughed up, leading to an ERA of 5.00, but Tommy Hanson was the pick of the bunch. The Angels had offense from Derrek Lee, Ryan Zimmerman and Quentin, while Joe Saunders picked up three wins.

In the consolation final, the Bats ended the year with a 9-3 win over the Giants. The Bats had plenty of runs from Denard Span while AJ Burnett put up excellent numbers to lead the pitching staff. The Giants had plenty of power from Prince Fielder and excellent pitching from Verlander but paid the price due to injuries.

In the battle for ninth, the Bangers defeated the Whos 7-4 in a close matchup, as almost all of the categories remained close in the final few days. In the end, the Bangers’ bats got the job done thanks to Tulowitzki, while there was plenty of good pitching from Ervin Santana, Wainwright, Happ, Zambrano and Rodney. The Whos had good weeks from Adrian Gonzalez, Escobar and Cust, while Blanton and Ubaldo Jiminez led the pitching staff.
Â
So that’s it! Thanks to all the managers who took part – especially those who kept their teams up-to-date throughout the season. Hopefully this will have encouraged the fantasy rookies among you to play again next year!
Â
Thanks for playing and hopefully I’ll see you in next year’s league.

Congratulations to SWAT and all the other players. I really enjoyed my first proper year of playing fantasy baseball and will definitely be signing up again in 2010, possibly to more than one league.
Mark: Thanks for all your work in setting up the league and in providing coverage every week. It’s been an excellent way to follow the fortunes of how each team has got on.
Congratulations to SWAT and thanks to everyone for making it a fun debut fantasy year. I’ll be back next year for sure!
