\"BgbFantasyHeadline\"Welcome to our weekly round-up of the BaseballGB Fantasy League competition.\u00c2\u00a0 This is a mixed Head-2-Head league involving BGB writers and readers. <\/em><\/p>\n

There are fourteen teams who pair up in different combinations each week, making for seven match-ups in any given week. The teams battle over twelve statistical categories, gaining one point for each category they win.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/em><\/div>\n

All the points are carried over into the season league table at the end of the weekly match-ups. The top six teams with the most points at the end of the fantasy season will go on to the playoffs during the last three weeks of September.

We begin with a big win for Redbacks, who defeated the Stuff 8-3. Despite having Mauer, Hill and Rolen on the DL, Redbacks took almost every offensive category thanks to Stanton, Freeman and Ichiro, while Josh Johnson’s excellent week helped the pitching staff. Papelbon and Venters took care of saves and holds. Holliday, Adam Jones, Phillips and Teixeira helped the Stuff take runs while Hamels and Beachy’s good weeks\u00c2\u00a0led to wins in\u00c2\u00a0Ks and ERA.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/div>\n

The Vendors just got the better of SWAT 7-5, as Steve’s hitters took five categories. Beltre, Drew and Votto provided a lot of the offense, while Nolasco helped the pitching staff take WHIP and Clippard picked up a couple of holds. SWAT had plenty of speed and Miguel Cabrera scored nine runs, but a lack of power proved costly. The pitchers fared better, taking four categories thanks to two wins from Anderson and a very nice effort from Kuroda.<\/div>\n

The Chasers’ 6-4 win over Bonestalkers didn’t feature much hitting for average, but Matt’s pitchers made the difference in this matchup. The Chasers’ staff, led by Kennedy, Lilly, Lackey and Kimbrel, took four categories and should be even better once Greinke returns next week. Ben Zobrist and Michael Young helped Bonestalkers take four offensive categories, while running wild and picking up nine steals in a week.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Angels’ hitters got the job done against daebhid2, taking five categories on the way to a 6-4 win. Jose Bautista had a heck of a week, scoring 10 runs, hitting four homers but not driving in anyone else. Wieters also came up with a pair of homers and seven RBIs. Tommy Hanson had a nice week for the Angels, but the real pitching star was CJ Wilson, who\u00c2\u00a0won both of\u00c2\u00a0his starts, striking out\u00c2\u00a019 batters.<\/div>\n

New addition Mitchell Boggs picked up two\u00c2\u00a0saves for Daebhid, while Lester, Baker, Oswalt, Colon and De La Rosa all chipped in with a win and contributed toward ridiculously good ERA and WHIP numbers.\u00c2\u00a0Ellsbury gave Dave the edge in steals.<\/div>\n

My Isotopes finally picked up a win, albeit a tight 6-5 matchup against JJ. My hitters came through in the clutch, picking up 40 RBIs mainly thanks to Uribe and A-Rod. My pitchers just edged saves and Ks thanks to Ubaldo, Ervin Santana and Madson, although my ERA and WHIP suffered. JJ collected six wins and put up excellent ERA and WHIP numbers thanks to the Tampa duo of Shields and Price.<\/div>\n

Iron Men’s pitchers led them to a tight 5-4 win over the Yankees, taking four categories and drawing the other two. The seemingly\u00c2\u00a0unstoppable Jered Weaver, backed up by Pineda and Garza, provided wins, Ks and and very nice ERA and WHIP stats, while Raburn and McGehee made the difference in RBIs. The Yankees had nice weeks from the New York trio of Granderson, Davis and Beltran, while King Felix and Danks were also very impressive.<\/div>\n

We end with a 5-5 tie between early pace setters, the Sox, and the Bet. Almost all of the categories could have gone the other way, so maybe a tie was fitting. The Sox had nice offensive weeks from Braun and Kemp, while Wandy Rodriguez was the pick of the pitchers. The Bet had two wins and 33Ks just from Halladay and Lincecum, while Ethier, Boesch and Polanco were big factors in average and OPS.<\/div>\n
