\"BgbFantasyHeadline\"Welcome to our weekly round-up of the BaseballGB Fantasy League competition.\u00c2\u00a0 This is a mixed Head-2-Head league involving BGB writers and readers. <\/em><\/div>\n

There are fourteen teams who pair up in different combinations each week, making for seven match-ups in any given week. The teams battle over twelve statistical categories, gaining one point for each category they win.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/em><\/div>\n

All the points are carried over into the season league table at the end of the weekly match-ups. The top six teams with the most points at the end of the fantasy season will go on to the playoffs during the last three weeks of September.<\/em><\/div>\n

We start with a huge win for Iron Men, who thumped daebhid2 10-2, with batters and pitchers each claiming five categories in a matchup which was closer than the score suggests. Kinsler and McGehee were the pick of Iron Man’s hitters, while Garza was the best starter in a rough week for the rotation.\u00c2\u00a0The bullpen of Valverde, Francisco and Betancourt\u00c2\u00a0took care of the saves and holds. Dave had plenty of speed from Davis and Ellsbury while Burnett repaired some of the damage done to the team’s ERA and WHIP.<\/div>\n

It was a bad week for the Yankees in MLB and fantasy terms, as the Sox ran out 9-2 winners in this matchup. Braun and McCutchen were the pick of the Sox hitters, while Wood, Anibal Sanchez and Cahill picked up plenty of wins, strikeouts and helped take ERA and WHIP. The Yankees had power from Beltran and Granderson and speed from Desmond, and won the battle of the bullpen thanks to Rivera, Street and Thornton, but the staff could only manage one win, from Cain.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/div>\n

A clean sweep of the offensive categories helped the Bet thump my Isotopes 9-2. Prado, Asdrubal Cabrera and Crisp were the pick of the hitters, while stingy pitching from pretty much the entire staff saw Margaret easily take ERA and WHIP. It was a dreadful week for my hitters, who struggled to a .188 average, but Kershaw and Chacin each had 11 strikeouts and Axford and Madson each had three saves.<\/div>\n

The Vendors’ pitchers came through in the matchup against the Angels, taking five categories on the way to an 8-3 win. Beckett and Verlander were the star pitchers, while Beltre, Brantley and Votto helped win average and OPS while Pedroia stole three bases. The Angels had runs, power and RBIs from the dynamic duo of Bautista and Adrian Gonzalez which would usually be good enough to win most other matchups.\u00c2\u00a0<\/div>\n

Another week, another 7-4 win for the Stuff, as the bats got the job done against SWAT. Peralta and Phillips helped the Stuff take five offensive categories, while four relievers combined for four saves. Billingsley and Haren kept the ERA and WHIP down but were unfortunate not to collect any wins. SWAT had the edge in runs thanks to Castro, Barney, Werth and Miguel Cabrera, while Kuroda, Gallardo and Arrieta made the difference in wins, strikeouts and ERA.<\/div>\n

It was hardly a great week for either teams’ hitters, but Bonestalkers came out on top to take five categories thanks to Huff, Weeks and Michael Young. Beck ‘Nams had plenty of wins from five different pitchers, but the bullpen failed to pick up any holds or saves.<\/div>\n

Last, but not least, the Chasers edged a close matchup 7-5 against Redbacks. Mosty of the categories could have gone either way, but Matt’s pitchers stepped up, taking four categories, including WHIP by 0.01 thanks to Kennedy, Greinke, Kimbrel and Feliz. Big Papi hit three homers for the Chasers while Tulo, Arencibia and Uggla each hit a pair. Redbacks took RBIs, steals and average thanks to Soriano, Stanton and Andrus, while Venters picked up a pair of holds.<\/div>\n
