\"BgbFantasyHeadline\"Welcome to our weekly round-up of the BaseballGB Fantasy League competition. This is a mixed Head-2-Head league involving BGB writers and readers. <\/em><\/p>\n

There are fourteen teams who pair up in different combinations each week, making for seven match-ups in any given week. The teams battle over twelve statistical categories, gaining one point for each category they win.<\/em><\/p>\n

All the points are carried over into the season league table at the end of the weekly match-ups. The top six teams with the most points at the end of the fantasy season will go on to the playoffs during the last three weeks of September.<\/em><\/p>\n

We begin with a big win for the Sox, who defeated the Angels 10-1. If this score wasn’t impressive enough, the Sox did it without any contributions from the injured Braun and Victorino. Aramis Ramirez and Kelly Johnson had big weeks while Kemp stole five bases. Masterson, Storen and Morrow contributed towards a\u00c2\u00a0sweep of the pitching categories. The Angels were unfortunate to only take one category, as Adrian Gonzalez, Wells, Bautista and Zimmerman all hit well and Hanson and Lee put up impressive pitching numbers.<\/div>\n

The Vendors had a big week, defeating Dave’s side 9-3 and picking up a top prospect along the way. Steve acted quickly to nab Mike Trout from the free agent pool, before I could do the same. Pedroia and Beltre each hit four homers for the Vendors, while Nolasco and Verlander were in excellent form on the mound. Dave’s team had the edge in steals thanks to the speedy outfield of Gardner, Davis and Ellsbury, while the pitching staff combined to take ERA and post a sub-1.00 WHIP.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/div>\n

My Isotopes end the first half of the season over .500 after an 8-3 win against SWAT. The hitters and pitchers shared the load, taking four categories each, with Montero, Aybar, Walker and Pence all contributing. Ubaldo Jimenez had a great week, while Kershaw and, surprisingly, Zito chipped in with wins and strikeouts and helped take ERA and WHIP. Ramos, Espinosa and Gordon helped SWAT take RBIs and steals, while Marmol, Romo, Soria and Salas combined for seven saves.<\/div>\n

Redbacks defeated Beck ‘Nams 7-4 on the strength of a very good week for their hitters. Hunter, Cuddyer, Freeman and Stanton combined to help win five out of six categories, while five different pitchers picked up wins and Papelbon had a hat-trick of saves. Beck ‘Nams had a huge week from Ibanez, while Konerko and Casilla were also in good form, but the star performers were on the pitching staff. Sabathia collected two wins and 20 strikeouts in two scoreless starts while Shields also collected double-digit strikeouts. The bullpen of Capps, Adams and Dunn helped nick holds.<\/div>\n

The Stuff got the better of the Yankees 6-4, with the hitters and pitchers sharing the category wins. Matt Holliday was the Stuff’s star hitter, helping take RBIs and average, while Chris Young’s speed came in handy. Haren and Hamels each had two wins, double-digit strikeouts, an ERA in the 1.00s and a sub-1.00 WHIP. The Yankee outfield of Granderson, Beltran and Justin Upton provided runs and power, while King Felix and Cain made the difference in strikeouts.<\/div>\n

A fantastic week for the Iron Men pitching staff helped them defeat Bonestalkers 6-4. The staff took four categories, including a stingy ERA of 1.45 and a sub-1.00 WHIP with Zimmermann, Weaver and Pineda all in great form and Valverde and Perez combining for six saves. Bruce and Hanley Ramirez were the pick of the hitters. Bonestalkers had power and speed from BJ Upton, Zobrist and Weeks but the pitchers failed to win a single category.<\/div>\n

The last matchup saw the Chasers edge the Bet 5-4 in a closely-fought contest. Hamilton, Morrison and Uggla provided Matt with runs and RBIs, while Kimbrel and Feliz combined for six saves and Greinke and Lilly each struck out 10. Youkilis was the clear star hitter for Margaret, while Bard had a four-hold week.<\/div>\n

At the break, The Sox lead the way, 6.5 games ahead of the Stuff. Iron Men are in third, 14.5 games back, followed by the Angels and Yankees. The Vendors are half a game in front of my Isotopes in sixth, with Redbacks and the Bet just in front of Bonestalkers. The Chasers are 1.5 ahead of SWAT, with Beck ‘Nams and daebhid2 at the bottom of the standings.<\/div>\n

With half a season still to go, there is still plenty of time to cement a playoff place or go on a charge up the standings, especially as only 10 games separates the teams in third and ninth.<\/div>\n

Because of the All Star break, week 15 will be a shorter gameweek, running from Thursday to Sunday and the 20-inning minimum inning rule is not in effect this week.<\/div>\n
