\"BgbFantasyHeadline\"Welcome to our weekly round-up of the BaseballGB Fantasy League competition. This is a mixed Head-2-Head league involving BGB writers and readers.

\nThere are fourteen teams who pair up in different combinations each week, making for seven match-ups in any given week. The teams battle over twelve statistical categories, gaining one point for each category they win.<\/em><\/p>\n

All the points are carried over into the season league table at the end of the weekly match-ups. The top six teams with the most points at the end of the fantasy season will go on to the playoffs during the last three weeks of September.<\/em><\/p>\n

It was crunch time for the teams hoping to make the playoffs in the BaseballGB fantasy league, as four places in the championship playoffs were up for grabs in the final week of the regular season. Which teams made it through and which teams would have to settle for the consolation playoffs?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIron Men booked their place in the playoffs with a 10-2 win against the Vendors which included a sweep of the offensive categories thanks to Kinsler, Fielder, Swisher and Austin Jackson. An excellent week from Shaun Marcum, combined with saves from Perez and Valverde and holds from Sale, helped Iron Men take four pitching categories. Bumgarner, Verlander and Fister helped the Vendors salvage ERA and WHIP.<\/p>\n

\nA sweep of the offensive categories helped my Isotopes defeat the Yankees 9-1, although both teams will be happy to have confirmed places in the championship playoffs. Hosmer, Lawrie, Montero and Crawford all had nice weeks with the bat, while Daniel Hudson won twice and combined with Kershaw to take strikeouts, ERA and WHIP. Rivera had four saves for the Yankees, while Robertson and Street made the difference in saves and a certain Mr Strasburg is back in time for the playoffs.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Wieters and Bautista were the pick of the hitters, while four different starters collected wins. Hamels, Vazquez, Guerra and Santos helped the Stuff take four pitching categories for the Stuff, who sealed second place in the standings for a first round playoff bye.<\/p>\n

\nThe Sox can take a well-deserved break in the first week of the playoffs after sealing first place in the standings by defeating daebhid2 11-1. Kev’s team swept the pitching categories thanks to Wandy Rodriguez (who racked up 21 strikeouts), Sean Marshall and Brad Lidge. Howard, Braun, Kemp and Johnson provided the offense. Gardner’s speed prevented a sweep for Dave’s team, who would have also won saves had they pitched the minimum of 20 innings.<\/p>\n

Edwin Jackson helped take strikeouts and Rafael Soriano and David Hernandez had a hold each. Uggla, V-Mart and Ortiz helped Matt take average and OPS, while Gio Gonzalez, Huff and Kimbrel helped take ERA and WHIP.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

JJ took all of the pitching categories except saves thanks to Sabathia (two wins, 20Ks), Shields and Adams while Wright, Jeter and Pennington all had nice weeks with the bat. Ackley, Ethier and Hart gave the Bet the edge in homers and OPS and Feliz collected the only save of the matchup.<\/p>\n
