\"BgbFantasyHeadline\"Welcome to our weekly round-up of the BaseballGB Fantasy League competition. This is a mixed Head-2-Head league involving BGB writers and readers.
\n\u00c2\u00a0
\nThere are fourteen teams who pair up in different combinations each week, making for seven match-ups in any given week. The teams battle over twelve statistical categories, gaining one point for each category they win.<\/em><\/p>\n

All the points are carried over into the season league table at the end of the weekly match-ups. The top six teams with the most points at the end of the fantasy season will go on to the playoffs during the last three weeks of September.<\/em><\/p>\n

After 24 weeks of battling, we are now know which teams will be contesting the BaseballGB Fantasy League championship and consolation finals. Read on to find out which teams made it through the semi-finals.<\/strong><\/div>\n

After earning week 23 off by finishing top of the standings, the Sox were back in action, defeating the Yankees on a tie break after both teams finished level at 6-6. After compiling a 14-7-3 record against the Yankees in the regular season, Kev’s Sox advanced to the finals. The Sox pitching staff took four categories thanks to two wins from McClellan and the efforts of Holland, as well as four saves from Storen. Braun, Kemp and Carlos Santana provided power and speed.<\/div>\n

The Yankees had big offensive weeks from Beltran, Castro, Granderson and Cano, while the pitching staff took ERA and WHIP thanks to Cain, Strasburg, Hellickson and Nova. The result is tough on the Yankees, who have had a very impressive season, and can still claim third place in their final matchup of the season.<\/div>\n

My Isotopes sprung a surprise, defeating the Stuff 8-4 thanks to a couple of pitching matchups. As both sides looked to gain extra wins and strikeouts, Joe Saunders’ defeat of Aaron Harang and Chris Carpenter getting the better of Cole Hamels on Sunday proved to be the difference in this matchup. Hosmer, Aybar and Pence all had nice weeks with the bat for my Isotopes.<\/div>\n

The Stuff had power from Phillips, Longoria and Lind, while Hamels made the difference in strikeouts and Gregerson and K-Rod each had a hold.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/div>\n

The Angels finished the season on a high, defeating Iron Men 7-3 to claim 5th place. It was hardly a vintage week for hitters or pitchers on either team, but Wieters, Kendrick and Alexei Ramirez had nice weeks with the bats for the Angels and Cliff Lee and CJ Wilson helped take ERA and WHIP. Fielder and Goldschmidt were Iron Men’s best hitters, while Weaver won twice, Beachy racked up 18 strikeouts and Valverde and Perez took care of saves.<\/div>\n

In the consolation playoffs, SWAT advanced to the final after a narrow 7-5 win against Beck ‘Nams. Kuroda, Leake and Niemann each picked up a win and helped the team post very stingy ERA and WHIP totals. Gordon, Hardy and Duda had nice weeks with the bat. Beck ‘Nams had power and speed from Wright, Bourn and Pennington, while Sabathia and Price helped take strikeouts and Adams had two holds.<\/div>\n

The Chasers also made it through to the consolation final, taking five offensive categories on the way to an 8-4 win against the Bet. Sandoval and Hamilton each had four-homer, 10 RBI weeks while Gio Gonzalez won twice and Greinke struck out 19 in his two starts. Bard had the only hold of the matchup. The Bet had speed from Bourjos and Maybin, but Hart and Prado were the only hitters to post respectable averages. Bell and Feliz each had two saves, while Lincecum, Halladay and Romero combined for stingy ERA and WHIP numbers.<\/div>\n

The Vendors completed a sweep of Redbacks in the battle for 11th. Their opponents sadly failed to pitch the 20 inning minimum limit again, but such was the Vendors’ dominance, Redbacks would not have won any categories even if they had. Pedroia, Vlad, Francouer, Beltre and Jennings helped sweep the offensive categories, while Fister, Walden and Clippard were the pick of a very impressive week for the pitchers.<\/div>\n
