A blizzard of snow is hammering against my window, making staying in on a Saturday evening very appealing.\u00c2\u00a0 Meanwhile the TV listings suggest that being stuck outside in the freezing cold might not be such a bad idea after all (‘Strictly Come X-Factor Get Me Outta Here’ etc).\u00c2\u00a0 Thankfully, MLB.com offers British baseball fans a chance to stay in the warm whilst retaining the will to live.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

As well as various MLB.com programmes, the MLB.com\/Live section<\/a> currently streams some MLB games for free.\u00c2\u00a0 This normally amounts to an archived game from recent postseason history and a memorable encounter from the season just gone.<\/p>\n

Today, Mariners fans smarting from their Team Picker position<\/a> can cheer themselves up by watching the classic game five of their 1995 ALDS against the Yankees from 16.00 (GMT).\u00c2\u00a0 At 20.00, it’s a game from the 2008 season between the Braves and the D-Backs, made memorable as it marked a return to the mound by Doug Davis after thyroid cancer surgery.<\/p>\n

The two games tomorrow are Game Seven from the 1992 NLCS between the Braves and the Pirates (16.00) and the thirty-five run extravaganza served up by the Rockies and the Marlins this year (20.00).<\/p>\n

I’m particularly looking forward to the the evening game on Monday.\u00c2\u00a0 It was one of the few highlights of the 2008 season for A’s fans: their dramatic twelfth-inning victory over the Angels on 8 June.<\/p>\n
