\"\"<\/a>The football season begins again today and I can’t remember an off-season that felt so little like an off-season.<\/p>\n

The 2012 European Championships were followed by Bradley Wiggins’ Tour de France triumph and we then had the all-encompassing glory of the Olympics to enjoy.\u00c2\u00a0 We’ve barely had time to pause for breath and football is back with us once again.<\/p>\n

Throughout the summer, we’ve also had a smogasboard of stories to enjoy in MLB. This week alone we’ve seen the extremes of King Felix Hernandez pitching a perfecto and Melky Cabrera failing a drugs test.<\/p>\n

Is there such a thing as too much sport?<\/p>\n

Nope, not a chance. The only problem might be not having enough time to take it all in.<\/p>\n

There are four MLB games starting before midnight U.K. time today.<\/p>\n

18.07. Texas at Toronto\u00c2\u00a0(Oswalt – Villanueva)
\n18.10. Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati (Samardzija – Cueto)
\n21.05. Boston at NY Yankees (Lester – Phelps)
\n21.05. Pittsburgh at St. Louis (Bedard – Lynn)<\/p>\n

The only slight disappointment is that ESPN America is continuing to focus on the Little League World Series. It’s been fun to watch the kids playing\u00c2\u00a0for a change, particularly a 12 year old Japanese pitcher the other day\u00c2\u00a0who was throwing 72 MPH fastball with a\u00c2\u00a0sweeping curve, but given the choice of watching\u00c2\u00a0a run of 4 such games all evening and night\u00c2\u00a0on ESPN America\u00c2\u00a0or adding in an important August\u00c2\u00a0MLB game, I know which I would prefer.<\/p>\n
