This is\u00c2\u00a0a big weekend in European baseball as the European Champions Cup Final Four takes place over the next two days in Barcelona.\u00c2\u00a0 It is a club based competition that this year pits two of the best teams from Italy against two from the Netherlands.\u00c2\u00a0 What’s more, the event is being\u00c2\u00a0broadcast online and also on TV, courtesy of Eurosport2.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
The European Champions Cup was launched last year after the Confederation of European Baseball\u00c2\u00a0tournaments were reorganized.\u00c2\u00a0 The Nettuno baseball club from Italy won the inaugural\u00c2\u00a0event and they are looking to defend their title in 2009.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
The\u00c2\u00a0competition begins today with the two semi-finals.\u00c2\u00a0 L&D Amsterdam Pirates will take on Fortitudo Bologna in the first game at 11.00 BST, while at 18.00 it’s Danesi Caffe\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Nettuno against Corendon Kinheim.\u00c2\u00a0 These games are available to watch for free live online via the 2009BaseballWorldCup<\/a> website and they represent an excellent opportunity for baseball fans to enjoy some European club\u00c2\u00a0baseball.<\/p>\n The third-place play-off (10.00 BST) and the final (17.00 BST) will take place tomorrow.\u00c2\u00a0It’s not completely clear whether these games will be shown online.\u00c2\u00a0 Mister-Baseball.com, the leading European Baseball and Softball website, state in their very useful tournament preview<\/a> that the semi-finals are available but\u00c2\u00a0there is no\u00c2\u00a0mention\u00c2\u00a0of the Sunday games.\u00c2\u00a0 However, the\u00c2\u00a02009BaseballWorldCup<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0website does promise us that we can “catch all the action live and uninterrupted online”, which\u00c2\u00a0strongly\u00c2\u00a0suggests that all four games (including the two tomorrow) will be shown.<\/p>\n Hopefully the final\u00c2\u00a0will be\u00c2\u00a0broadcast online, allowing as many people as possible the chance to see the game.\u00c2\u00a0If\u00c2\u00a0not, or you\u00c2\u00a0unable to watch the live feed, subscribers to Eurosport2 have three chances to catch a repeat.
