Judging by other comments on the web, it appears as though it may still be broadcasting (I&#8217;m not a subscriber so can&#8217;t check myself). I&#8217;ve amended the post accordingly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>British baseball fans have already started <a href=\"https:\/\/baseballgb.co.uk\/?p=3181\">commenting<\/a> on the news that Setanta Sports has been taken off the air this evening.<\/p>\n<p>Setanta Sports finally <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/business\/8115360.stm\" target=\"_blank\">went into administration<\/a> today after more than a month of uncertainty over the company&#8217;s future.\u00c2\u00a0 The administrators have pulled the plug immediately, meaning that channels such as ESPN America and Racing UK, that were sold to customers as part of the Setanta Sports package, will have their outlet taken away.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At time of writing, ESPN America has still not published any information on their website\u00c2\u00a0to let\u00c2\u00a0North American sports fans know what is happening to the channel.\u00c2\u00a0 Racing UK have already\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.racinguk.com\/page\/AffiliateScheme\/0,,12542~1687429,00.html\" target=\"_blank\">clarified<\/a> their position, informing horse racing fans that\u00c2\u00a0they\u00c2\u00a0will become a standalone subscription channel, with existing subscribers enjoying free access until the new set-up goes live.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It seems likely that ESPN America will also take this approach, although ESPN&#8217;s recent acquisition of rights to Premier League games may prompt the media giant into launching an\u00c2\u00a0ESPN subscription package that includes ESPN America and ESPN Classics.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Whichever way they decide to go, ESPN America has known for a while that Setanta&#8217;s future was bleak so many of the necessary discussions would have already taken place.\u00c2\u00a0 Hopefully they will be able to provide an update fairly soon.\u00c2\u00a0 If you hear any news, please share it via the comments function.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EDIT: I wrote the original version of this post on the back of a couple of messages stating that ESPN America was down.
