Still, the Pirates have reason to hope after having three narrow defeats in the past\u00c2\u00a0month.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"center;\"><span style=\"12.0pt;\">On Sunday 14 June, Croydon forfeited game one of\u00c2\u00a0a double-header against the Blazers but looked strong in\u00c2\u00a0game two, holding a 4-3 lead after the\u00c2\u00a0top of the sixth inning. But Bracknell\u00c2\u00a0crossed the plate twice in the bottom half of that frame and shut down\u00c2\u00a0the Pirates in the top of the seventh to win by 1 run.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"center;\"><span style=\"12.0pt;\">Then, on Sunday 28 June, Croydon bounced back from an 11-2 loss in the first game of a double-header against Herts to build a commanding\u00c2\u00a0position in gme two, leading 10-4\u00c2\u00a0after the top of the fourth.\u00c2\u00a0But the Pirates faltered, eventually\u00c2\u00a0falling 12-11.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"center;\"><span style=\"12.0pt;\">And then on the Sunday just gone, the Pirates\u00c2\u00a0scored 8 runs\u00c2\u00a0across the third, fourth, and fifth innings, to overturn a 7-0 deficit after\u00c2\u00a0the first two\u00c2\u00a0innings against the London Mets. It was not until the bottom of the\u00c2\u00a0seventh that\u00c2\u00a0the Mets scored the 2 runs that they needed for a win.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"center;\"><span style=\"12.0pt;\">The Richmond Flames are the only team in the National Baseball League to\u00c2\u00a0have enjoyed purely comfortable victories against the Pirates. The Flames have outscored Croydon 63-11 in the teams&#8217; four meetings so far.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"center;\"><span style=\"12.0pt;\">Two of the Pirates&#8217; remaining six games are against Richmond, and so they may need to look to their other four games for a chance to register that first victory. All\u00c2\u00a0of these\u00c2\u00a0are against Bracknell.
