{"id":5016,"date":"2009-10-13T00:01:37","date_gmt":"2009-10-12T23:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/baseballgb.co.uk\/?p=5016"},"modified":"2009-10-28T10:31:50","modified_gmt":"2009-10-28T10:31:50","slug":"inaugural-class-of-the-british-baseball-hall-of-fame-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/baseballgb.co.uk\/?p=5016","title":{"rendered":"Kendrick, Moores, and Wells inducted into British Baseball Hall of Fame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/baseballgb.co.uk\/wp-content\/bbhof.png\" alt=\"bbhof\" width=\"160\" height=\"160\" \/>The inaugural class of inductees into the British Baseball Hall of Fame (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbhof.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\">www.bbhof.org.uk<\/a>) has been announced, and there are three names on the list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ross Kendrick<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Kendrick, the stand-out player for the Great Britain team of 1938 (recognized as the first World Champions), has been inducted under the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Baseball players\u00e2\u20ac\u009d category.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sir John Moores<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Moores, who was instrumental in building British baseball\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s \u00e2\u20ac\u0153golden era\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the 1930s, has been inducted under the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Game builders\u00e2\u20ac\u009d category.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Norman Wells, Sr<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Wells, who has made numerous significant contributions to baseball in the Merseyside region from the end of World War II to the present day, has been inducted under the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Coaches, managers, umpires, and other officials\u00e2\u20ac\u009d category.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->As new names \u00e2\u20ac\u201c from both contemporary and historical eras \u00e2\u20ac\u201c are added annually, the list of inductees will grow and grow as the years go by to form a comprehensive record of those individuals with superlative contributions to and performances in the game of baseball in Great Britain.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations for the 2009 class of the Hall of Fame had to receive at least six votes from the eight-person Board of Electors in order to be inducted.<\/p>\n<p>The Board of Electors comprises individuals who have researched the history of British baseball, with an additional member being a representative from the board of the British Baseball Federation. Electors put forward nominations for each class and also vote on whether each candidate should be inducted or not.
