The MLB schedule has been severely disrupted over the last few days due to the terrible weather inflicting many parts of the U.S.\u00c2\u00a0 Tonight’s game on Five should be a clash from the AL Central with the Tigers taking on the White Sox, but both games of their planned double-header were rained out yesterday and the rain is still falling in Chicago.\u00c2\u00a0 With uncertainty over the pitching match-up and no earlier games in the series to report on, this will be an abbreviated preview of tonight’s game.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/p>\n

The two teams are currently scheduled to play a lunchtime game (19.05 BST) involving Justin Verlander and Javier Vazquez, before meeting again on ESPN in the evening (01.05 BST).\u00c2\u00a0 Five’s coverage is set to start at 00.40.<\/p>\n

The weather<\/a> on the Chicago Tribune website at the moment shows widespread rain in the morning with showers in the afternoon and a thirty per cent chance of showers in the evening.\u00c2\u00a0 So, there’s hope that the evening game will go ahead at least, although the first game may fall victim to the weather.\u00c2\u00a0 If it does then we will probably see Verlander and Vazquez in our game tonight.\u00c2\u00a0 Otherwise it should be Kenny Rogers and John Danks.<\/p>\n

Chicago will be particularly keen for the games to go ahead as the Twins are taking full advantage of their inactivity.\u00c2\u00a0 Minnesota won both games of their double-header against the Orioles yesterday to join the White Sox at the top of the AL Central.\u00c2\u00a0 Although the White Sox will have the opportunity to regain their lead by winning these games in hand, it puts added pressure on them to come out on top, knowing that the Twins already have the wins on the board.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

If the game is rained out, it’s probable that we will head over to Milwaukee to watch the Cubs and the Astros facing each other on neutral ground as this is the only other game starting at 01.05 BST.\u00c2\u00a0 Carlos Zambrano and Randy Wolf are the scheduled pitchers for that one.\u00c2\u00a0 Keep a check on MLB.com and ESPN.com for the latest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
