Welcome to our weekly round-up of the BaseballGB Fantasy League competition. This is a mixed Head-2-Head league involving BGB writers and readers.
Â
There are fourteen teams who pair up in different combinations each week, making for seven match-ups in any given week. The teams battle over twelve statistical categories, gaining one point for each category they win.
All the points are carried over into the season league table at the end of the weekly match-ups. The top six teams with the most points at the end of the fantasy season will go on to the playoffs during the last three weeks of September.
With three weeks left before the start of the fantasy playoffs, which teams are looking like champonship contenders in the BaseballGB fantasy league?

We begin with the week’s big winners, as Iron Men thrashed daebhid2 11-0, with only a tie in wins preventing a 12-0 sweep. Bruce, Kinsler and Pagan all had big weeks with the bat, while Vogelsong and Beachy racked up the strikeouts. It was a forgettable matchup for Dave, with Farnsworth, Nishioka and Gardner the pick in a poor week.

SWAT just got the better of the Stuff 7-5, taking four pitching categories thanks to Kuroda, Harrison, Marmol and David Hernandez, while JJ Hardy had a four-homer week. The Stuff had nice weeks from Ryan Roberts and Longoria, while Hellickson and Morton helped take ERA and WHIP.

An intervention from Mother Nature helped my Isotopes defeat the Bet 6-5, as Halladay’s Sunday start was washed out. Lawrie and Pence had nice weeks with the bat, but it was my pitchers who really made the difference, taking all six categories thanks to Ervin Santana, Kershaw, Ubaldo and the bullpen of Axford, Madson, Bailey and Bastardo. The Bet had offense from Helton, Asdrubal Cabrera and Maybin, while Lincecum was excellent in his start.
