BGB Fantasy League 2012 Week Sixteen

by Mark George
The trading deadline has been and gone for MLB teams, but the managers in the BaseballGB Fantasy League can still make deals for a little while longer. Who has seen hitters change home stadiums and how have the bullpen deals affected the league’s teams?

BD Yankees 23 5 21 2 0.22 0.61 2 3 32 0 6.7 1.44 0
NE Riverkings 28 6 29 4 0.29 0.82 5 6 48 2 2.1 0.81 12

The Riverkings were the biggest winners of the weeks, recording a clean sweep against the Yankees. Butler, Heyward, Jackson and the now-injured Grandal all had nice weeks with the bat, while the pick-up of Ben Sheets continues to look very shrewd. Hellickson won both his starts and new Angel Greinke racked up 13 strikeouts. The Yankee bullpen has taken a hit with the deal which sent Broxton to the Reds, meaning he’ll likely be going for holds rather than saves.

Iron Men also picked up an 8-4 win, this time against SWAT. Braun, new Dodger Victorino, Miguel Montero and Viciedo led an offensive sweep, while Billingsley helped take ERA and WHIP. The deal which sent Brett Myers to the White Sox means, temporarily at least, he is unlikely to get many save chances. The rookie duo of Griffin and Fiers both pitched well for SWAT, while Encarnacion, Beltre and Adam Jones each homered twice.

For the Expats, Jemile Weeks and Garrett Jones, who homered three times, helped take runs and RBIs. Minor racked up 13 strikeouts and Lincoln had two holds, although the deal which sent him to Toronto could mean a return to the rotation.
