Live baseball to watch this week

by Matt Smith

Lots to look forward to this week, with inter-league play beginning on Friday (unless you hate inter-league play of course). The cupboard is bare on Tuesday and Wednesday, but you can catch live baseball on MLB.TV during the evening in Britain on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Here are my picks for the top games. All times below are in BST.

Monday – An exciting pitching match-up in prospect, with Jered Weaver and the Angels taking on Kevin Millwood and the Rangers. This one starts at 19.05.

Tuesday – No evening games BST. King Felix is scheduled to return for the Mariners against the Angels at 03.00 for any insomniacs out there.

Wednesday – And again, no games at a convenient time. Lots of top pitchers are starting in the early hours of the morning though (Sabathia, Wang, Webb, Lackey, Wolf, and Jake Peavy).

UPDATE: Due to their postponed game on Tuesday, the Yanks and White Sox play the first of a double-header at 19.05.

Thursday – Several games to choose from today. Johan Santana takes on the Tribe at 17.05, the Cubs face the Mets at 18.10, while Ben Sheets starts against Freddy Garcia in Philadelphia at 20.05.

Friday – Traditionalists beware: Inter-league play starts today. The White Sox head to the north side to take on the Cubs at 19.20.

As always, there’s a game on Five on Wednesday night and various live and “as live” games on NASN .
