Home MLBBST Game Guides A bumper week

A bumper week

by Matt Smith

It’s a bumper week for British fans who want to watch/listen to some live baseball during the evening on MLB.com. Only Friday draws a blank and I’m sure you can find something else to occupy your time that evening! As always, all times are listed in BST.

Monday – Barry Zito lived up to his big money contract in his last outing when he shut down the Mets’ lineup. The Giants will be hoping that he can put in a repeat performance, this time against Jon Lieber and the Phillies, starting at 18.05. A little later, Gil Meche and the Royals take on James Shields (who has been terrific this season) and the Rays at 20.10.

Tuesday – The Marlins and the Braves face each other from 19.35, with two relatively little-known starters (Wes Obermueller and Buddy Carlyle) taking the mound.

Wednesday – Four interesting match-ups starting before midnight tonight. The Marlins-Braves series continues with Scott Olsen facing Kyle Davies at 18.05. “Crazy Horse” Carlos Zambrano and the Cubs take their show on the road to Milwaukee with Jeff Suppan and the rest of us wondering whether Big Z will put a beating on the Brewers or his own team mates (19.05). Promising young Twins starter Kevin Slowey takes on the dominant John Lackey and the Angels from 20.35, while the Orioles and the Mariners begin at 21.35 (Cabrera against Washburn).

Thursday – Five pre-midnight games today with Roy Oswalt against the Rockies (20.05) and Curt Schilling against the A’s (20.35) being the main drawing cards. The other three games are Royals-Indians (17.05), Devil Rays-Blue Jays (17.37), and Pirates-Nationals (18.05).

Friday – All late games tonight.

Whether there is a game on Five on Wednesday night depends on the Stanley Cup. NASN’s MLB schedule can be found here .
