Flicking through the TV schedules yesterday, I noticed a reference to the European Baseball Championship and, sure enough, it is being shown live on the Eurosport 2 channel. The Championship is held every odd year and Spain is the venue for the 2007 event.
Great Britain were one of the six teams to qualify for the final stage of the tournament and they’re playing as I write this post (it’s 11.00) against Germany. The Brits had a great come-from-behind win over Sweden yesterday which put them in a tie with the Netherlands (who have dominated this event in recent years) in the standings. The tournament is set up as a league, so all the teams play each other and it’s the team who lead the league at the conclusion of all the games who takes home the trophy. Tomorrow is the final day of the tournament and, depending on how the results go today, the match between Britain and the Netherlands could be the decider. By the looks of things, that game is going to be shown live on Eurosport 2 from 10.00 in the morning, so why not tune in and support your country? They are certainly putting up a better showing than the England rugby team!

Britain just lost to Germany 7-5, in an entertaining game. I’ll post a match report this evening.
