Waiting for Wednesday

by Matt Smith

There are nine early games scheduled for the working week, all taking place on either Wednesday or Thursday.  All times are listed in BST.

Monday 2nd – No early games.

Tuesday 3rd – No live games at a convenient time again today, but I suspect plenty of Yankees fans will be tuning in at just after midnight as Joba Chamberlain makes his first Major League start.  It’s no easy assignment as he faces Roy Halladay and the Blue Jays.  It should also be an interesting game in Oakland starting at 03.05.  The A’s are playing the Tigers with Dontrelle Willis and Armando Galarraga scheduled to combine as a pitching duo for Detroit.

Wednesday 4th – This is more like it: six early games to choose from today.  The Marlins and the Braves start things off at 18.00, with Tom Glavine set to start for Atlanta.  At 19.05, it’s the D-Backs against the Brewers with Micah Owings and Manny Parra on the mound.  The Dodgers’ young phenom Clayton Kershaw makes his third start at 20.10 against Aaron Cook and the Rockies.  At 20.35, the Tigers take on the A’s, while John Maine and Matt Cain are the scheduled starters in the game between the Mets and the Giants from 20.45.  Finally, we have a battle from the AL West as the Angels face the Mariners at Safeco from 21.40.

Thursday 5th – Three early games today.  At 18.05 you can either start watching the Reds against the Phillies or the Blue Jays against the Yankees.  Alternatively you can wait five minutes before tuning in to the Orioles versus the Twins from the Metrodome.

Friday 6th – No early games to end the week.

If the Stanley Cup goes to game six, it will take precedence over the normal Wednesday night baseball game on Five.  NASN’s MLB schedule for the week can be found here.
