With sincere thanks to Inverness Reference Library, I now have a digital copy of what might well be the first box score to ever appear in a British newspaper (the Inverness Advertiser, 19 July 1870). In addition, a cutting from the same paper on 18 April 1871 confirms that the club survived at least one Scottish winter. The cutting is transcribed below, followed first by the scan of the box score from 1870, and after that with the transcribed box score.
