Three places left in BaseballGB Fantasy League

by Mark George

BgbFantasyHeadlineBaseballGB’s fantasy league is back for 2011. Its first two seasons have been very competitive and we are hoping for an even stronger league this year.

It doesn’t matter if you are a fantasy baseball rookie or a seasoned player – if you are mad about baseball, you’re welcome to join us and pit your wits against BaseballGB’s writers and site visitors.

And what’s more, if you join, your team will also feature in the weekly league roundups posted here on BaseballGB.

How the league works

We run a weekly head-to-head league, so your team goes up against another manager’s where you are trying to win 12 categories.  As there’s always a weekly match-up to win, there’s always something to play for and some glory to be won.  And as with the real MLB competition, if you make it into the playoffs there’s every chance that you’ll make it to the final and be crowned the BGB Fantasy League champ.

So far we have 11 managers signed up and eager to enjoy the competition, but there is room for three more teams, possibly more depending on the level of interest.

The league is run through Yahoo and is FREE to join – you just need to set up a fantasy account with Yahoo if you don’t already have one.

Competition details

There will be a live online draft before the MLB season starts, time and date to be determined, where each team must fill the following positions:
1 x Catcher
1 x First Base
1 x Second Base
1 x Shortstop
1 x Third Base
1 x Centrefielder
2 x Outfielders (can also be centreffielders)
1 x Utility Hitter

2 x Starting pitchers
2 x Relief pitchers
2 x Pitcher (starters or relivers)

5 x Bench spots for hitters or pitchers

The categories you will be trying to win each week are:

Runs
Runs Batted In
Home Runs
Stolen Bases
Batting Average
On Base Percentage + Slugging Percentage

Wins
Saves
Holds
Strikeouts
Earned Run Average
Walks + Hits per Inning Pitched
