Great to see that the Daily Rewind is back on MLB.com this season. It’s an invaluable way to keep up with all the action every day. My favourite clip today was from the Red’s game. There have been some hilariously bad ceremonial first pitches thrown over the years, but Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory’s was probably the worst I’ve seen. He only missed the plate by about ten foot! It was also good to hear that several ballparks broke their attendance records for opening day matches. Baseball really is on the up and up and it’s great to see.
Not so sure about the advert breaks that they’ve introduced this season during the Daily Rewind though. And as for Vintage Base Ball, I think I’ll give it a miss!
Not related in any way, but I wanted to post a heads up that if you don’t have MLB.TV there’s a 5 day trial during April.
I think I may have to get that. Five days of baseball is better than none. Plus I can test Mosaic. (That’s basically the dealbreaker for me if it doesn’t work on my laptop).
Would go check the rewind, but I just taped a game off TV and don’t want to dare risk stumbling upon the result!:)
Just realised you said about giving vintage baseball a miss. NOOOOO!:) I love old baseball. I’ve got tons of old radio broadcasts here.
Tune into the Daily Rewind (once you’ve seen your taped game) and you’ll see what I mean! It’s not actual old games, it’s people recreating how the game was played back in the day with old equipment etc. I’m not sure exactly what they’re planning to do. If it’s a one-off feature then I would probably watch it out of interest. If it’s a series of games then I can imagine the novelty would wear off pretty quickly.
I have heard of a league that runs like that. Old equipment etc… Back to wooly clothing… Sod that.:)
I’ll see if I can find Daily Rewind on there.
