Blue Jays vs White Sox

My Monday guide to the week ahead stated that there would be no early games on Tuesday, but the Blue Jays and the White Sox will be in action after all thanks to their game being rained out yesterday.  First pitch in the opener of the double-header is set for 19.05 and it’s a great pitching match-up in prospect.  A.J. Burnett takes the mound for Toronto, with Javier Vazquez starting for Chicago.

The Blue Jays have been on an incredible run recently, having won their last eight games to move them ahead of the Yankees into third place in the AL East.  The wild card is out of reach, but at least they are finishing the season well under Cito Gaston.  Meanwhile the White Sox have a 2.5 game lead over the Twins in the Central.  With there being little to choose between the two sides, it promises to be an excellent battle right through to the end of September.

I’m not sure which feed MLB will be showing and the answer may determine whether you watch the game or listen to it on Gameday Audio (if you have the option).  I’ve listened to the Blue Jays’ commentary team quite a bit recently and they are one of the better crews around: they are knowledgeable and root for their team, while giving plenty of credit to the opposition when merited (e.g. not being overly biased).  If it’s the White Sox then we’re stuck with Hawk Harrelson (basically the opposite of the Blue Jays’ team, for the uninitiated).  MLB.com had raised the possibility that subscribers might be able to choose between home and away TV feeds (when available) for the first time during September this year, although that’s not materialized yet.

Fingers crossed we’re in the company of the Blue Jays’ team then.
