The Sunday slate of games offers us the normal fourteen early contests, including a bundle of exciting pitching match-ups. 

That’s especially the case in the American League.  Angels-Tigers looks like the pick of the games as Jered Weaver has been strong in all of his five starts so far this season and Justin Verlander seemed to recapture his form in his last outing against the Twins.  Phil Hughes has pitched well after slotting back into the rotation for the Yankees, Francisco Liriano has been a revelation for the Twins, while reigning Cy Young winner Zack Greinke is still looking for his first win thanks to the blundering Royals bullpen.

In the National League, Chris Carpenter is aiming to improve his record to 4-0 and Randy Wolf has a hard act to follow for the Brewers after Yovani Gallardo’s display yesterday (11K’s and a home run at the plate).

ESPN’s Sunday Night Game is Mets-Phillies at 1.05 a.m., although once again ESPN America will be concentrating on the NHL playoffs instead.  They will show the game ‘as live’ tomorrow at 9.30 a.m.
