Project Cobb (the Project for the Chronicling of British Baseball) supports both historical research into baseball in Britain and efforts to chronicle the game as it happens. The main force aiding the latter is Project Cobb’s sister organization the Great Britain Baseball Scorers Association, but there are other components to the support, including Project Cobb Photography.
In order to recognize the photographers who capture images of baseball in Britain each season as an important part of the sport’s community, Project Cobb Photography is teaming up with BaseballSoftballUK to launch an annual British Baseball Photography Competition. The competition will be accepting entries for the 2010 British baseball season from now until the end of September, and each photographer is invited to submit up to 20 images over the course of the competition. The competition is focused on adult baseball and any individuals pictured should be aged 18 years or over.
The overall winner will receive £100 in photography vouchers, generously donated by BaseballSoftballUK. In addition, all of the best entries will be featured in galleries on the British Baseball Federation website and the Project Cobb website.

Back in September, Matt announced his upcoming plans for BaseballGB in an interview with baseball-braniac.com. This included news of a design overhaul to make the site even more useful and enjoyable for you, the reader. After a lot of work to get the new-look site ready, I believe that the big upload is very close.
I hope, then, that Matt doesn’t see me announcing news of some improvements to the Project Cobb site as trying to steal his hyperspace thunder. Well, here goes anyway (I guess if it’s really an issue Matt can always delete this post and say “sorry Joe, it accidentally got lost during the transitional period”).
The truth is, compared with Matt’s imminent BaseballGB overhaul (for which, incidentally, I’ve had the good fortune to see some very impressive previews), my changes are mere tweaks. Continue reading
